I actually had a good conversation about this with a Muslim friend of mine. From his perspective, he believed that Muslims and Christians worshipped the same entity. Our understanding, how we relate, how we worship, and how we even refer that being just happen to be different. From my understanding, Muslims believe that there was a man named Jesus, but he was just that, a man. He was a teacher and profit, but once he died, he was gone. Muhammad was not God, or even a God entity, he was a man just like Jesus (of their belief), who just happened to be right on everything, thus the Islamic religion was born.
I remember he specifically said Islam is all about peace. Above all else, they just want to see a planet be free from conflict and truly peaceful in every land. At the time I just took him at his word. Looking back, I really wish I would have pressed him on that, because that last line sounds like bs with how many terroristic attacks have been happening in the name of Islam. It'd be different if it was just a bunch of guys doing things who just so happened to identify with Islam. But when there's a large group of people committing attacks literally saying their religion told them to do it. There is a serious problem.
Islam and Christianity are very different. Sure, both would agree that homosexuality and premarital sex are bad. But whereas Christianity says to pray for these people, or continue sharing the Gospel with them. Islam says to kill them (certain interpretations).
Huge differences here. I got a lot of respect for my friend, but he was wrong.

"I and my father are one"
If you don't believe Jesus is God, you don't believe in the same god. You believe in a man and a God that doesn't incorporate the power of Christ to save.

They have a funny way of showing it then.

Yes that's correct. Some Muslims view that in a nonviolent light. Other Muslims see it the same way that strangling a barking puppy has now put everything "at peace". Once you stop struggling and just accept their belief as true, everything is good. The problem isn't them forcing their beliefs on you through whatever means necessary, it is you for struggling. This is also called the rapist worldview.
