I'll never understand the issue some of you seem to have with erring on the side of caution.
It's almost as if the only way you think they're justified is if a severe storm comes through during a 30 minute window.

I understand it. I just think we go too far with it. We live on a planet where things happen. But the chances are infinitesimally small they will.
I tell you what, if a tornado actually hits a Livingston Parish school (or knocks over a single van, truck or bus in LP) Thursday, I will send you $40, on the condition that if nothing happens, you send me $20. That's pretty good odds for you... I should reverse that, in my favor.
Also, if you REALLY want to save some kids lives, lower all speed limits to 15mph, nationwide, including freeways.
Too slow for you? Not worth it? THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!

So when is the last time you heard a school bus full of kids die from a tornado hitting them.
Do you know where the nearest tornado shelter is to your house? I bet its the gym at the school your kids go to.
