Not that it makes the parent any less retarded, but UCLA is generally regarded as one of the best public universities in the country. When you consider the fact that all the brand-name Ivy League schools are on the other side of the country, and that Cali families will get to pay in-state tuition, it makes a tad more sense.

Because UCLA is one the best public universities period point blank, and it is also one of the hardest to get accepted.
