There aren’t many being grown anymore. I only eat strawberries when I can get Louisiana strawberries. When they are gone I wait until next year. A Mexican or California strawberry is grown for traveling not eating and have the flavor of a jar of paste.
Same with tomatoes. I eat with the seasons.

A pint of cut up fresh Louisiana strawberries cut in half and just dusted a small amount of sugar and allowed to macerate a few hours is about as good of a springtime dessert as can be had. Guild the lilly and put over ice cream or put a dollop of fresh whipped cream on them. Drizzle a bit of balsamic vinegar on them as well.
