Gonna disagree with several of those
Metal: Iron Maiden
Progressive: Rush
Industrial: Ministry
Country: Hank Sr
Prog could have Rush, Yes, or King Crimson. Maybe Dream Theater. I like Pink Floyd but I don't think of them when it comes to prog.
I don't know how you can say Hank Jr over Sr. Johnny Cash Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Conway Twitty, George Strait all come to mind before Hank Jr.

But these are singers not bands. Really the biggest country band ever was Alabama.
When I think Southern rock I think of Linyrd Skynyrd or CCR even though they weren't really from the South. Just my .02

I agree with this. I'm as big a PF fan as anybody but I don't really put them in the prog bucket. Neither does Gilmour for that matter. That said, I'm not sure what genre I would put them in. Maybe psychedelic rock?

I’ve always objected to the Allmans
being described as “southern rock”, because they’re so much more,I.e., blues, jazz, etc.
That's true but that's sort of the problem with genres in the first place. On the one hand, genres are useful for describing what kind of music a band plays. But they can also pigeonhole a band. Most of the bands I like the best don't really fit into a particular box.
