So from the perspective of home owners, which I am not, this is a nice gesture. For those of us that choose to rent specifically to dodge property taxes, this blows. My guess would be that they understand the potential to raise more revenue because the pool of renters is larger in the big cities versus home owners.

Your landlord is factoring in the cost of his property taxes into the amount he charges for rent

You know part of that rent goes to cover the owner's tax payments, right? In theory, if property tax goes down, your rent should as well (holding all other expenses steady).

It won't, I'm sure.
