Alaska has 1000s of them. There's so many up there the fishermen call them buzzards as they feed on the trash fish they throw out of their nets.

It goes beyond that, why needlessly kill a Bald Eagle, you sure ain’t gonna eat it and possessing the claws or feathers will land your azz in jail.

About 40 years ago I guy I knew got busted just for that. Actually, he had one mounted hanging on his wall of his house. The cops raided his place for a marijuana patch he had growing but when they found the eagle they forgot about the weed. I forgot how long he served but they put him behind bars for quite a while.

I'm not too concerned about Bald Eagles. I'm more concerned with the lack of game birds, quail and pheasant that once were common in East Tennessee. Now, due to the protected hawks, owls, eagles the game birds are seldom seen.

I don't get the whole "Eagle Privilege" thing?
They're not very good and the only way I've had them, that is even palatable, is in a slow cooker, and even then they are very stringy.
That said, the dried heads and legs make great key fobs, and are quite the conversation starters.

Thats the second one in Arkansas the last few years. There was a beautiful male we would see over a creek near Delight that some POS killed.

Many years ago in Alabama my uncle came back from the taxidermist with a deer head and a funny story. Taxidermist said some yankee was visiting relatives and went out to shoot. Comes in his place with a croaker sack and asks him to mount it. Taxidermist says "ya know what ya got here". Guy says, its a hawk. Taxidermist said "Nope, you see bald eagles only get white feathers as adults, what cha got here is a juvenile bald eagle and a federal prison sentence. I suggest you take this bag back and bury it....ideally not on your own land, and I never met you".

It's illegal to shoot a hawk too. Any songbirds will get you locked up too. Back in the old days certain songbirds were pretty good eating.
