The wife (see my sig) needs a new vacuum cleaner as our Oreck is on its last legs. Are Dysons as good as they claim? Get another Oreck? The one we we have has made it about 10 years which I think is pretty solid. Just curious if anyone had any suggestions one way or the other.

We’ve had a Dyson Animal for 6 years. It’s great. Only thing we’ve replaced is the washable filter for like $15.

Our original Dyson was great, the newer one was garbage. If I was buying a new one I would get a miele canister for a plug in vacuum.

Interesting. They look like they could suck the concrete slab through the carpet. But it seems like people love them or hate them.

Seems hyperbolic. I’m 34 and have 2 kids. We just need a new vacuum.

We have a Shark Navigator for the upstairs, and a Dyson we keep in the basement. We like the Shark better, and it was significantly cheaper. It's super lightweight and easy to maneuver. The only downside is the canister is pretty small so you have to empty it more frequently.

There's usually a Eureka on sale for a hundred bucks or less. Bought one a while back and was absolutely stunned at how much dirt is sucked up. They've come a long way in how well they work. Even the lower line models will suck the chrome off a trailer hitch. I sure wouldn't break the bank on one.

Dyson is marketing and status, like Kirby and rainbow
. It is a vacuum. Eureka or sharp. Save your money.

I absolutely love my shark
It’s bagless, light, and powerful.
It’s light AF and converts to handheld and has tons of attachments we actually use

I like that. Would it be handy for the truck on occasion? Does it handle heavy dirt (clunks) alright?

I love the Shark Navigagor professional. About $250 and has everything. It is powerful.

Our Oreck is 16 years old. Sucks like a motherfricker.
