Wrestlemania weekend officially kicks off TONIGHT as WWE gives its next wave of superstars their night as NXT takes over New York and the Barclays Center in Brooklyn (why this isn't called Takeover Brooklyn 27... we'll never know)
This has the potential of being the best show of the whole weekend (what's new) as NXT has a stacked card for tonight's show
I'm starting this thread super early since I will be heading out to the baseball field here in a bit to work a doubleheader and will have to catch this show on demand later
Tonight's Card:
2 Out of 3 Falls Match for the vacant NXT Championship
Johnny Gargano vs. Adam Cole
Fatal Four-Way Match for the NXT Women's Championship

yes... but the HoF induction is on Saturday on Wrestlemania weekend so NXT is on Friday

God I'd love to see them put the belt on Cole tonight.....but I'd have to bet on Gargano winning it......who the frick knows...one of the best things about NXT is that the storylines and finishes don't get spoiled nearly as much as the main roster.

I mean isn't the HOF ceremony usually on Friday?

I'd actually put my money on Cole
Gargano was all built on getting this defining win over Ciampa... and if WWE has assurance that Ciampa can eventually make a full recovery and come back following his surgery... they may hold off on putting the belt on Gargano until he can take it off of Ciampa

Yeah......I'm interested to see how that works out. There was a lot of talk of people stopping on AXIS when they heard Ross' voice on NJPW....I wonder if AEW can or has tried to quantify that. If that happens for them it is huge......just the fact that people know Ross is going there is big....if he can perform even as good as he did in like 2010 it will be better that what WWE has right now.

Maybe they hold Gargano for Ciampa....but that could be a year or more before Ciampa is back in the ring.....that's a lot of figuring other stuff out to do with Gargano before then.

I have little interest in AEW... just feel like their main selling point is "We're not WWE!" and attempting to rope in all the wrestling fans who are disatisfied with WWE.
Too many people think that it will be like WCW vs. WWF in the 90s. While I hope that turns to be the case since competition is a good thing I don't see it.

Rumor is Gargano asked to stay in NXT after Ciampa got injured....also I've heard the words "205 Live" in association with Gargano....he should stay in NXT if that is the case.

The similarities are there....if they get a huge TV deal then they will be uncanny.
The thing that WCW had that AEW obviously doesn't is history. AEW is backed by a big money guy just like WCW when Turner took over and they have what many consider to be the biggest wrestling star in Omega just like WCW had in Hogan.
I'm not sure they will compete with WWE because Vince has such a head start.....but if they do get a badass TV deal and somehow start to take real talent from WWE then we might have something.

JR's understanding of how the backstage works is worth more to AEW than his voice... and that's while trying to not undersell JR's iconic voice for wrestling... both are very, very important to the growth of AEW
