One year of Nintendo Switch Online for Free (if you have Amazon Prime)

If you have an Amazon Prime account, one of the new perks is one year of Nintendo Switch Online for free. And don't worry if you've already paid for a year subscription to Nintendo. The free year tacks on to the end of any subscription you've already paid for.

OK, this is cool, but really confusing...even if starting out without a subscription to Nintendo Switch Online.
I go to Amazon Prime and find the Twitch Prime subscription. Then I choose the Nintendo Online Perk. Then I sign in to Switch and link my Nintendo Online account.
Then I give my credit card to Nintendo so it can charge me if I roll over the year?
So, how do I make sure that TWITCH PRIME doesn't charge me? Do I cancel that subscription before the 30 days are up for them?
ETA It's (Nintendo Online is) wanting to charge me $7.99 for 3 months is this the right track?

It took me a while to figure out how to do this correctly as well. The instructions aren't clear at all. I signed into twitch first, then went to Amazon to find the twitch prime perk, which allowed me to link amazon to twitch so that twitch prime was free. Then I clicked on the nintendo switch online bonus on twitch prime to link the nintendo and twitch accounts. I guess because I already had my credit card info for the nintendo eshop, it didn't ask me for credit card info again.
But yea, at the end of the day, I think nintendo asks you to select a subscription plan, but it doesn't actually charge you until the end of the free year (because my CC hasn't been charged).

That's what I figured out too.
The important part being that you need to turn off automatic payments so you won't be charged after the 3 months.
I have it now!

At the least, having access to the NES titles is nice, especially the “special” versions of games where you start with a ton of power ups and, in some cases, late in the game.
Enjoyed playing Gradius Special where you start off on level 5 with the full set of power ups and Zelda 1 where you start off with full bombs, rubies, and keys along with a bunch of items like the blue ring.

If you have a family membership, you're 100% screwed.

Bumping this thread because this month will probably be the month you have to renew for the other free 9 months. I just did it. It was much easier to do this go-around.

The Nintendo online app. If you go to the store it's an app you download. Right now it has a ton of nes games
