I've been riding motorcycles for almost 50 years now and the last time La. had an option about wearing helmets was when Foster was the Governor. He was instrumental in repealing the helmet law and it became legal to ride without a helmet.
The next governor repealed that law and reinstated the current helmet law making it illegal to ride without one.
Truth is, I rode a couple times without a helmet and it just felt kind of weird to do so and opted to ride with one. Also, on many of the road trips I've taken finds me crossing states that have no helmet law, but I still wear one when out on the road. That helmet can take a harder blow than my head, no matter how hard my wife thinks it is.

And that is the problem. If it can be proven that you didn't wear a seat belt, insurance should not be required to pay for your extra expenses for injuries. Maybe it is that way...idk. Since it's a law, then insurance should be able to pay more or less based on wearing a seat belt. If you're found to not be wearing a seat belt, then they should jack your rates up and not everyone else.

Yeah it’s bullshite. I got in an accident years ago that was determined to be my fault and the other guy wasn’t wearing his seatbelt and had minor injuries bc he wasn’t wearing his seatbelt. Of course my insurance had to pay for all of his injuries which is BS since if he wasn’t breaking the law by not wearing a seatbelt he’d be fine.
