Glad to see that most of the responses here have it right, they are dolphins. Usually see them close in around Shell beach, Lena Lagoon like someone mentioned, around Lake Borgne, etc. and definitely fight them like a mofo down the MRGO in summer.

No porpoises in the Gulf of Mexico. Help spread the good word

I guess we will called them Bottle nosed dolphin. The ones down the MRGO are smart as hell. They will herd fish up against the rocks and just sit behind the boat waiting for you to throw the small ones.

I fished the Hopedale area a lot in the 1980's and frequently saw dolphins in MRGO
