FWIW in 2015 I had to put down my 11 year old Doberman then less than 3 months later I had to put down my 6 year old Akita who suddenly came down with stomach cancer. It was a sad time but I got over it pretty quickly. I had both of them cremated and hiked up to their favorite trail on the mountain behind our house in CO and spread their ashes.
