In front of you?

I stopped the car and wait for the little guy to get on the other side.

I asked a friend with a pickup and he does not slow down and says whatever happens, happens, hit him or not. I called him a piece of shite.

Squirrels are pros at this. If you maintain speed and direction they’ll be fine. They’re killed by these big hearted people that try to swerve or slow down.

I will do everything I can safely do to avoid hitting the squirrel, but I’m not going to run head on into another vehicle to avoid running over him

I never slow down and definitely never swerve and I have never hit a squirrel.

Depends on my speed.

Insurance research shows trying to slow down or swerve leads to accidents.

I always thought that when they did that, they wanted to die.

I will come to a complete stop,l stare the bastard in the eyes and then, only then It is on. Sometimes they win sometimes not, I feel it gives them every opportunity for a successful outcome.

I do the same...what ever it takes NOT to run over it.

What a POS. In my world, I value the life of that squirrel more than i value the life of people like your friend. Many, many times, I value the life of animals over some "humans" - especially those that mistreat dogs or other animals.

Maintain current heading. Slightly ease off the accelerator. They’ll be fine.

As another previously stated, squirrels are pros at this but they aren’t anticipating your swerve.

Ducks are the main problem. They sometimes require a near complete stop and blowing the horn to clear the road.
