Jim Crow Laws ensured that even if you had qualifications, many places wouldn't hire you.

I'm not saying their wasnt a limited job market, but its disingenuous to say the racist policies didnt play a huge role. You could go as far as saying Jim Crow created artificial limitations on the market.

I agree we need to monitor social programs. But we have more black professionals today as a share of the total black population than ever before.

There was actually a black economy during Jim Crowe, which all but died after integration.

Not saying integration should never have happened but it hasn't been as kind to those of lower status.

The whole point of Jim Crow was to limit the job market for minorities. I remember my parents talking about how certain professions used to be a "White Man's job" and that was 30-40 years ago.
