The same sort of people that get all pissy about MSNBC or CNN hiring a conservative are the same sort of people that get all pissy at Fox for hiring a liberal. You can't have "fair and balanced" if you don't have representation from the other side.

Donna has a frickton of experience from her years on CNN and was interim DNC chair. She also exposed the financial miasma Hillary caused with the DNC. She has a passable ability at objectivity but her past with feeding questions to Hillary prior to CNN's Dem debate makes for a great rhetorical foil for someone to use against her if she starts getting too biased.

And if she's too biased, Britt Hume will kick her to the curb right next to Bill Kristol.
