Two fastest and two slowest teams using the same engines
Williams needs to get their shite together in a bad way...
Or we let them be the pace cars and only run 18 this year... I vote for that

The fact that P8 is almost 2s off the pace is pathetic
It's better than last year when 8th was 2.4 seconds off Hamilton's time. A .6 second improvement is a decent sign that the midfield is much stronger.
I'm really hopeful that Haas can get their first podium this year.

I know nothing about Leclerc, but id actually like to see him finish anrace this year.
Seemed like he was always getting caught up in wrecks and problems last year.

Will I be able to watch a replay of the race on the ESPN app tomorrow afternoon? Want to get into F1 but midnight is a tough start time
Posted on 3/16/19 at 4:23 pm to Cocotheape
Yes. It will be replayed on the ESPN app. I watched qualifying on it this morning. Glad to see Haas starting off well. Hopefully they don't throw it away again this year.

Thanks!
I’m going to try and follow McLaren and their young drivers, seems like it could be an interesting storyline.

I don't know if you ever go to Twitch but Lando streams every now and then. He usually plays iRacing. I doubt he'll be on during the season but who knows.

I think that's a joke Gene Haas made last year.
F1 = Merc, Ferrari, Red Bull
F1.5 = everyone else

Everyone else is so far behind, they're not quite F2, they're F1.5, otherwise known as the midfield, or the backmarkers.

In other words, best in class. Got it.

Both? There's typically not a huge amount of discussion here about F1, so I think usually a single thread covers the whole season. So if you're going to watch the race later, stay out of the thread once the race starts to avoid spoilers.

In the past we have treated these as in-race threads. Mainly because there are about 5 people that comment and because a lot of us end up watching on DVR. So the first post of a race thread could be a huge spoiler.
If you want to be unspoiled I would suggest social media blackout and realize that 'suggested news stories' will give you a headline spoiler every single time.
A race like Baku might be deserving of its own thread, that race delivers every year.

Renault engines ruin Ricciardo's season, so he leaves red bull for Renault... And now he's just slow, but paid.

Red Bull use of the Renault engine ruined RIC season.
A lot has been suggested that RIC was in a mule car the second half of the season when he decided to split.
Sometimes you get unlucky, very seldom do you get so unlucky while the mirrored car has zero bad luck.

This season I'm hoping to see:
Red Bull at least challenge and keep up with Ferrari. I hope the Red Bull Honda partnership is successful.
Leclerc and Gasly push and occasionally beat their teammates. I'm tired of guys like Bottas who show a lot of promise and get promoted, then it turns out they are in fact a tier-2 driver. I want to see the next up-and-coming superstar emerge, but I don't want it to be Verstappen, he's too much of an arse.
(I mean, I know Verstappen is already seen as the next superstar, but last year he made some dumbass mistakes. I'm hoping someone else emerges as a Hamilton-level of driver.)
