Seems hypocritical not logical.
Fact of the matter is that LSU acted WAY to fast before figuring out what was up and what was down and now they’ve backed themselves into a corner of being hated by their fans or being roasted by the media.
They tried to put out a fire by throwing gasoline on it.

And they’d rather be shite upon by the fans, because we’re peasants who, regardless of the venom we spew, will still give them our money.
And they know it. Not a difficult choice to make.
