Front 9 is in great shape. This break from the rain has gotten the fairways looking really well and carts are off path. Greens are starting to grow again and should start to really come around well.
There are two green issues on the back on the par 3s: 13 and 15. Currently, the only negatives of the course imo. Those two greens get the most shade and were lost for the winter. Again, grass is growing finally, but those two will need some time and good conditions to get back to the way they were.

Are there any trees within a mile of the course? If so the place is a shite hole

The layout of Greystone is an interesting discussion. But maybe for another thread.
It's a very divisive place because some holes are considered "wacky" and when I was first starting out, I disliked it as well. I've come to love it as I've realize how differently it plays from one tee box to another and how it forces strategy for every shot. Yes, there are trees, but they only truly come into play on the easier, more wide open holes.

I like almost every hole out there, except 8. Just doesnt seem to fit the rest of the layout. Short, straight, with some bunkers. Reminds me alot of the similar hole at Carter on the front. 6 i believe.

Hell, 8 may be the only hole I like lol.

I’ve simply learned to appreciate it for what it is. And how differently it can play from tee to tee. Speaking of... they’ve added a fifth tee between the old men’s and senior tees. They’re the new “men’s” tee. LGA was out last month resloping the course.

Yeah.
Red -Women’s about 4300 yds
Grey - Senior about 5400 yds
Blue - Men’s about 6000 yds
Gold - ??? About 6600 yds
Black - Champion about 7100 yds
The difference between gold and black seems like way more since there are lots of holes where driver can get you in trouble from gold.

Here is a look at the course by swingbyswing.com

Hole #2 looks interesting, looks like you are crossing water most of the way

Yea, I'd bet gold, blue and grey all play similarly, as it just changes what club you hit into the landing zone.

For the front, yes. The back is much easier as you move up.

Truth be told, #8 used to be a really cool hole. There was a tall tree in the middle of the fairway about 100 yards from the green. Tree died and bunkers on left were put in place.
Greystone makes players use their heads. While I admit it's not for everyone, I think Greystone is a nice place to play. People are great there. We USED TO have the best putting green in town until it was replaced with some wedding venue thing.
#18 is probably the most polarizing hole there. They should flip flop the 9's. If #18 is the last hole that golfers play, it will make a lot of people hate the entire course. Leaves a bad taste in their mouths.

4, 13, and 18 are usually the ones people complain about. Didn’t know 8 was a problem for anyone.
And if you flipped, your first hole is one of the more difficult tee shots and not a driver for most. 11 is the smallest green. 12 is another small fairway. 13 is the most difficult par 3 with what comes down to a gimmick green.

I like 4, 13, and 18. I enjoy holes where you have to play the hole for what it gives you and not simply because you make good shots.
8 is just the odd ball out there. Would improve if they added or moved some of the bunkers in the FW. Just my opinion.
I also like 18 where it is because if youre playing someone else, and the round is close, that hole becomes a helluva lot more entertaining. Just ask TigerCraig (blew a 3 stroke lead)

Leave the 9s the way they are, just fix 18. Move up the tees to where driver definitely covers the creek and Driver - 3 wood gets you on the green.

I like 4, 13, and 18.
13's green is just... stupid. The tiers tilting away from the tee boxes along with the sand that has to be covered makes it a hole for only really good golfers, and even they get punished on good shots. I can't imagine what it's like for the 10+ cap who's playing the course for the first time.
4 can be risk/reward if you're truly bold. Cutting a long driver around the creek and trees gives you a chance at getting there in two. But it's hardly worth it for most people.
18 is okay. It requires 3 solid shots with no mistakes. However, in scrambles it's one of the most fun holes for me. Last one I got to go driver (covered both parts of the creek) then driver again sitting up in the rough. Got it hole high and my partner chipped it to 2 feet. But playing alone, I'll never take that chance. I agree with Johnny about filling in the creek and give more people a chance at getting there in 2. But given that green and the protection around it, it's more likely to lead to even higher scores.

I'm going to make a 7 either way. I want to go out swinging
