2016 Mercury 60hp 4-stroke.
When I hammer down to get on plane it stays fine, but once I drop down to cruising RPM it won't stay put and drops power down.
Is there some adjustment for the lever somewhere?
Pic below if that helps...

Take housing off binnicle and adjust tension, YouTube is your friend. Would clean screws and Loctite (red) once you get desired results.

There is normally a little plastic plate that pops out somewhere with a tensioning screw underneath

Friction nut is located below the control handle inside the console. I believe it is an 11/32”. Typically they’re easily adjusted while you’re out on the water.

Thank you David. I'll poke my head in the console later.
I'm 47 and this is my first boat with a steering wheel, ha ha.

Poked my head in the console and you would have to be some sort of Vietnamese midget to get your hand anywhere near where an adjust screw would be.
Guess I'll try taking the cover off the console to see if I can get to it from above.

Is this the nut I need to adjust?
I assume righty-tighty will increase the friction so it won't slip down?

That doesn’t look like it’s the correct screw. I’m no expert but l’d imagine the tension screw is on the throttle lever itself (not under the console).
Are there screws or “plates” to pop off the throttle assembly?

Need better pics of binnicle (throttle assembly), there will be a side plate on the right you can take off. Once off, you can see the cables attached to the assembly.

There is no screw on the throttle lever.
There is one screw at the top of the housing which I guess would allow the housing to pop off.
I just don't want to frick anything up.
The screw in the photo is inside the console just below the throttle lever.

OK. I'll take more pics of the binnacle when I get home, thanks.

One screw on the front
Nothing on the lever but the button that let's you increase RPM without engaging the tranny.

I would be willing to bet that if you take that one screw out, you can probably lift up the black cover and you will find the adjustment screw.

Thanks. Guess I'll take it apart tomorrow.

That’s it.
Don’t take the cover off. Listen to a professional.

Many thanks sir.
Took it to the lake this afternoon. 1 turn of that nut did the trick.
Now I have a free hand to drink my beer while cruising.
