the narrative that I've begun to see is that not many if any big named FA's want to go play with LeBron (outside of AD) because its a toxic environment around him. apparently KD used the word "toxic."

Yep. Some people are oordinating an attack on Lebron. Multiple stories that he and Klutch are toxic that if another star goes there and they lose, then Klutch/Lebron will throw them under the bus so one wants to play with him, the Lakers thought about trading him, but if they did they wouldn't get much for him.
