What no one has asked yet is, are you considering a water source heat pump or an air source heat pump. I have a 20 year old once through water source heat pump and it has been great. I will admit that my situation is somewhat unique. Water flows from the well, through the heat pump, and out into a pond. If I were starting from scratch, I would have routed the water through the slab prior to discharge in the pond.
