Behavior follows incentives.
We have incentivized victimhood.
Nail on the head. A good microcosm of this is seen in the behavior of some leftist biracial folks. For all the talk we hear about "white privilege," almost all such individuals I know of or hear about vociferously embrace their minority heritage and eschew their white heritage. It makes so sense until you start to realize that the real privilege in this country is that of public victimization, because, at the end of the day, Americans are actually an extremely empathetic people. It's a commendable trait, but one that many folks brazenly exploit for their own personal or political gain.
Cultural marxism is big business.
