One of these liberal FUMC liberal churches is in my rural county, on the fringe of Dallas, with a large, popular lake.
It would already be a dead church because its membership is growing old and younger people don't care to be judged about divorce, abortion or being queer.
So to revive it, the lake area residents (formerly of Dallas) have taken it over. The pastor is retiring and his family portrait looks like something straight out of a SJW magazine (neckbeards and a mixed-race adoption).
The congregants praise him for making it "fun."

This is why I wont step inside a church for any serious reason for a really long time other than obvious instances. This isnt a recent phenomenon either.
