I thought he was considered one of the best before the ATL thing. He was working with us and involved in the Solomon Hill deal? Wasn’t aware of that and had thought he was considered a really great evaluator before his hawks thing.

I mean no one bats a thousand as an NBA GM.

And I think he was considered amongst the better GM's before the debacle.

Though I will say, again, simply as an objective observation, another consideration is he was also not the best drafter.

Pretty much every season there were guys right around his spots as BPA that he should of selected over his eventual pick. So it's not really simply reaching to knock him for not picking a guy half the league passed up.

For instance picking Schroeder and Larkin back to back over over Dieng, Snell, Roberson, Plumlee, or Gobert. All players that went basically right after their selections. Shroeder is borderline depending on how you grade their value, still.

Then taking Adrien Payne over Jusuf Nurkic a pick later the following season.

Misses in the mid to late first round are a little more forgivable.

Ainge has missed in that range.

Ferry as POBO can oversee everything. Bargain Free Agents, draft steals, rookie contract guys who need a change of scenery.

Right now I’m heavily for keeping Ferry in that role and hiring a GM like a Battier type.

Also, Ferry can oversee GLeague front office.
