re: Out west vacation(recommendations?)

We took a trip similar a few years ago;
Started in Nola, went west to Death Valley (stopping at Carlsbad, Roswell, Vegas to stay at RedRock and Death Valley) then looped back east and hit arches, canyon lands and Bryce Canyon. Slept in the back of my Jeep on an air matress for 3 weeks. It was freezing, cramped and memories we would never want to forget. Our west is beautiful man and we had a blast.
We had more trip planned but wife fell and broke her leg in Bryce so we had to fly back home for emergency surgery.
Edit: lots of day hikes along that route. We also hit the Grand Canyon as well
