I don't mind sweeping leaves off a floor, but if the market for lawn leaf robots doesn't take off soon I'm going to end up building one myself

Right? I could use it in my driveway for sure too.

Roomba is releasing their lawnmower finally, but that's not quite what we're looking for is it.

ETA: Well it looks like they do exist. I just saw this one, no idea if it's worth anything but it gives a starting off point. I wouldn't pay a ton for one, which I now see is pretty much guaranteed in this segment.

Yeah I ran across the Kobi a while back, but they're still not available and expected to cost $4k when they are. No thanks.

I think I'm just going to build a simple plywood box with wheels, or maybe find an old junk lawnmower and remove the engine, and experiment with blowing a leaf blower from different angles to see what it'll pick up. I have so many fricking leaves, I don't need perfection. I'd be happy with something that'll pick up 75% of them. I think if I blow the air just right, I can make a chute that directs most of the air/leaves into a bin.

If it does a better job than my 6 year old, you can bet your arse I'm going to put a couple of drive motors on it and enough electronics to make it manually remote-controlled at the very least, until I figure out the navigation.

And if the blower doesn't lift acorns, I'll put a fricking acorn picker-upper on it too. frick a tree.
