Yes it’s the largest discretionary. However you slice it, it is a big piece of the pie.

You still have no point. The Dems have majority support for new spending that is FAR greater than ALL current military spending and ain't NO ONE for reducing military spending to zero. You couldn't even if you tried.

So. My point remains.

What is your point? That electing republicans saves money? Because it hasn’t

You play hypotheticals but more Republicans have not empirically reduced the deficit

Literally my first post on the subject said that overall, Republicans have not met the mail on spending but AT LEAST there ARE Republicans in DC who want to. They simply are outnumbered. The number of Dems who want to reduce overall spending is exactly zero.

MEANWHILE, the Dems have MAJORITY SUPPORT for INCREASING spending SUBSTANTIALLY by creating NEW programs.

When confronted with driving off a cliff, if there are two people in the front seat with access to the gas pedal...........one keeps driving highway speed towards the cliff and one wants to floor it, then, you take what you can get and kill the dude trying to floor it.

Dems literally CANNOT speak about budget spending with any credibility and you know it. NO ONE wants to touch non-discretionary spending and Democrats want to PILE ON to discretionary AND THEY ALSO WANT TO ADD non-discretionary!!!

You're right. We should build a great wall. That'll cut spending and lower the debt. Better yet, let's give corporations a tax break. That'll help the debt also

We all know Republicans will find Jesus on "fiscal responsibility" once again in 2021 when a Democratic President is inaugurated.

...then lose it the next time a Republican wins. Like they always do.

Well Barry doubled it during his term. I don’t think Trump is anywhere near being on pace to do that.

frick right off.

Your spending should be constrained by revenue. Not revenue set by spending.

They ONLY want to cut what they perceive as Republican pet projects.

Honestly, the problem is in ~360M American bathroom mirrors.

I can't think of a single thing that would actually make a difference that you could cut substantially in the budget that wouldn't create a goddamned firestorm in the American public.

And my entire point is that Republicans "who want to" are just pandering to people like you. When it comes down to it, they don't get it done. It's all talk.

To use your example, the car is driving at the same speed off the cliff. Republicans are claiming that they are pumping the brakes, but they are not. Show me some numbers that say otherwise.

To add.

The budget deficit in 2018 was about 780B.

OK. Pretend you cut the entire fricking military. That's $670B.

You couldn't pass a bill with another $120B in cuts if your fricking life depended on it.

OK. Great.

And exactly ZERO Dems even pretend to want to cut spending and a MAJORITY want ENTIRELY NEW programs to pile on BOTH in discretionary and non-discretionary!!!

No. Republicans claim that, but have basically maintained speed(which sucks).

Democrats want to drop an elephant on the accellerator

Dude, the Trump admin is using a 5% cut in discretionary spending as their purported goal. Tax revenues are already down this year. The dial is not being moved by Rs. What is it going to take for you to get that.

This is why, if the Dems really want to talk to people like me about the deficit, I'll happily listen because yeah, Repubs have failed on it.

But, you can't talk to me about deficits while you're proposing massive new spending programs. I mean really.....that's just frickery.

At no point have I lauded Repubs for their deficit approach.

I'm just not going to listen to the assholes who want to explode it on steroids try and tell me they give a shite. It's retarded.

CAHoots, major dem candidates just cosponsored a plan that would add 40 trillion in debt over ten years.

What have repubs put forward that compares to that?

Are you pretending that it is NOT true that the Dems have majority support in their caucus for MASSIVE new spending?

I mean, the fact they can't get it through ain't exactly a refutation.
