How do ankle braces work?

In sports and non- sports alike, a standout amongst the most widely recognized wounds is lower leg sprains and strains of changing degrees. To such an extent that in numerous games "routine tape has as long a convention as the sport. Using the ankle braces, obviously, requires some serious energy and an educated mentor or individual to apply.

I used the cross strapping and lace up ankle braces all through b-ball in high school

Used these in college after taping in HS. I wound up liking them better than tape. Still have a pair for any time I play basketball.

They add stability and rigidness. Prevents sprains and broken ankles. They work much better than tape. Tape looses its effectiveness as soon as you sweat through it. It’s really not that difficult to apply. If you are prone to minor sprains, get a fabric lace up brace. If you are prone to more severe injuries, get a heavy duty brace.

Depending on what you’re doing, ankle braces can wreck your knees. The ankle is a multi-planar joint, and immobilizing it puts extra strain on other joints that do not operate as freely as the ankles (particularly the knee). If you’re just jogging and doing light activity, it probably isn’t a big deal. But if you’re participating in more strenuous activities with lots of change of direction (like basketball), it can be detrimental.

Exactly! Take slack out of the ankle and place the torque on the knee. Tread carefully here.
