I think people don't even understand who gets furloughed in a government shutdown.

Hint: its people like my friend that works for the Post Office in "Technology Advancement".

I can’t tell if there is sarcasm in this post. Is “technology advancement” for the post office really necessary? Why do we even have government run mail service? That’s easily something the private sector can handle.

Some of these jobs need to stay permanently shut down

I also think a lot of people don’t understand that even the non-furloughed employees aren’t getting paid.

All essential/non-furloughed means is you still have to go to work and you’ll get back pay once the shutdown ends. During shutdown you’re still not getting paid and your department is getting no money.

DOJ, TSA, FDA, IRS etc are all not getting paid and suffering from real lack of money. Unless you think we shouldn’t have a federal judiciary, airport security, safe food/drugs, and money for literally anything....it’s a real issue.
