He won't opt in.

If you wanna keep him, you are gonna have to play with fire and maybe you end up with nothing.

But if you believe in yourself, that's what competent franchises do (see: OKC and George, Toronto and Kawhi)

The safer route would definitely be to trade him.

Like you've said before, it's unlikely the same deals that are available in the summer won't be available next deadline. Only difference is you can't select the players in this year's draft yourself. And let's be honest...would rather Dell or Danny Ainge making those picks?

Agreed.

Different situations. Us trying to convince Jrue to re-sign with AD having signed the super max would be similar to George. If George left, Westbrook is still locked up long term.

Toronto is different too because they've made playoff runs and are trying to show Kawhi he's the missing piece. We're trying to keep our heads above water and convince AD the best is yet to come 7 years in.

If nothing comes before this trade deadline and we know he's not signing then my preference is just to move him to the highest bidder.

My plan B would be waiting until the trade deadline to see if a move could be made to at least make his decision harder. If nothing comes by next trade deadline though we would be idiots to hold on to him.
