It’ll cost around 6600 a person to fly on a charter SFO to Shanghai. More if you need the plane to wait for a return trip. This assumes a G5 with a load of 14 (seems common/average) config. The cost can easily double on a particular trip you only need to send a handful of people.

The difference in cost outflows is probably not worth the additional logistical considerations and liability exposures.

Very interesting, thanks. But that's a G5, they could damn near charter a 737 daily!

They are saying 50 seats a day, so those peeps are clearly coming back.

Plus, chartered jets don't have to go through Airport security. So you could have the jet leave at a better time for employees AND no security, etc. Hell they could fly it out of somewhere other than SFO too that would be even better for their employees.

I'd assume Apple has considered all this though.

They should just figure out a way to keep 50 people from needing to fly to Shanghai every day, seems like a no-brainer for a tech company.
