He's a lawyer, and the son of an SEC HC. What about him makes him "not made to be a HC"?

He rubs people wrong, and perhaps comes off wrong/entitled w/o "earning it". Still doesnt mean he isnt capable.

He was what UT needed at the time. No better option. Problem is he was given 2.5 yrs which was barely enough time to clean up the mess kiffin left, so nvr had the opportunity to be a "head coach". Also didnt help he got a new AD after yr1 that wanted to leave his legacy on UT football...butch jones. Hart was said to be "impressed" by jones when he came into Neyland, and lost. Yeah Dooley definitely had a solid shot at being HC...

In his first year he faced a chip kelley oregon in the 2nd game. Was playing them well until a long rain delay gave kelley an opp to adjust.

Went to BR, and took a player/coach brainfart in a crazy ending for him not to win that game.

Lost the bowl game on what would eventually turn into a new rule to prevent a team from losing that way.

That first year UT played 3 top 10 teams (bama, uf, oregon), and a total of 5 top 20 teams when you add lsu and uscjr.

No coach has walked into what dooley did back then.

I dont know if he'll be a good HC, but dont know he wont be either as he hasnt had a full clean opp to do so. Jones benefited highly from what dooley did, and left him. He failed after given twice the time and pay.

I go back to giving him a few more yrs at mizzou. Hone his skills, and improve his "people skills" rep. He may be a good option.
