Education is his number one issue, particularly school choice and vouchers, high schools partnering with trade schools, and community colleges partnering with industry.
This sounds like a practical approach I could support
quote:
He came out emphatically for a Constitutional Convention to change the way we fund priorities.
This has to happen before we make any progress whatsoever as a state
quote:
When confronted with issues he wasn't overly familiar about, he didn't bullshite, admitted he wasn't well-versed, and said that he would defer to others.
Ok, good, but then:
quote:
He discussed criminal justice reform, tort reform, and coastal erosion in the context of number 7.
quote:
He came out emphatically against legalizing recreational marijuana, admitted he doesn't know anything about marijuana, and then said he wants to know more about medical applications before taking a stance on our current medicinal set-up.
And
quote:
He came out emphatically against legacy lawsuits and coastal erosion lawsuits against the oil companies.
So he doesn't know anything about these subjects, but categorically opposes recreational marijuana, and is opposed to coastal erosion lawsuits. Doesn't sound like he is differing to experts on those issues. It sounds like he is basing his opinions from a baby boomer's facebook feed.

The legacy lawsuits is from a jobs perspective. Since JBE embraced the trial lawyers in those suits, even though there's plenty of activity going on in the Gulf for oil production, it's mostly happening on the Texas side of the maritime border. Companies are actively avoiding drilling in Louisiana due to those lawsuits, and it's seriously hurting the economies of towns like Lafayette, New Iberia, Thibodaux, and Houma.
