I lived in Cedar Grove as a young child. My first sports experience was playing baseball for Cedar Grove in a SPAR league. We played at Roberts Park on Browning Street. There were lots of hardworking white folks in the neighborhood back then.

When I was in the 4th grade, we moved across town in search of a better life. The rest is history.

Cedar Grove use to be a pretty good place. I grew up in Sunset Acres and we played pool in the second story of one of the building there on main street. Also, CG was the last place I remember racing my dad (running) before he lost his leg. Dated a girl with last name of Christian and one Kilgore from there. Nice girls. Became friends with a lot of cedar grove guys.
