You just don’t know, if everyone stays healthy for at least 10 games together how good we can be. Just imagine if we had DeMarcus through the whole thing last year. We think we coulda won it all.

i find this the most interesting thing he said. unfortunately the interviewer didnt continue the line of questioning. it would not suprise me if AD declines the supermax, that the cousins thing is what soured him on staying...

I'm not sure it would be "the cousins thing" as much as the inability to recover from losing Cousins by having a 2nd stroke of luck as big as it took to get Cousins in the first place. And it was lucky. Hell, until Cousins agent tried to kill the trade the Pels had a 2019 1st committed as well. That would have really hamstrung the Pels now and keep them from being able to offer the 2018 in a trade right today meaning they probably have no shot at someone like Beal.

Even with all of the luck it would take to have another Cousins size move happen, it seems like a trade for Beal is still feasible if the Pels are prepared to give up 2 1sts.

One could argue that the Cousin injury situation would help us. AD is already an often injuried guy (minor but still) I find it laughable that there’s even gossip about him considering the one year deal route. Cousin gamble on himself post injury doesn’t look to be planning out too well.
