Best combo of athletics and academics for a public school is Zachary HS.

Best magnet high school in the state is not Ben Franklin...it is Baton Rouge High School.

Louisiana has tons of very good private schools, Catholic and otherwise.

East Baton Rouge Parish is full of great high schools: Zachary, BRMHS, U-High, Catholic High, St Joseph's, Dunham, Episcopal to name a few.

And there is the problem with the whole school system in this country. For profit. Just like the healthcare system. For profit. Even the church. This is one crazy country. I have been living and working abroad for 26 years.

For Calcasieu Parish academics, it's Sam Houston High School. Good baseball and softball programs.

Caddo magnet highschool... caddo parish...turns out best academics students in the state (highest standardized test scores). For a student athlete there's several good schools...and it depends on the class you're graduating with. It varies year to year
