And ftr, I agree. Our service members actually accomplish the job they have. Congress does not. It's why I believe shutdowns should halt Congressional pay throughout the duration, with no retro. When shite actually affects their bottom line, deals will happen.
Until that day which will probably never come, be prepared to enjoy more political posturing, grandstanding, virtue signaling and bloviating from Congress.
There's an old saying that rings true:

With the perks those fricks get (not to mention the under-the-table stuff), 80k per year is far more than adequate. That right there would save 95k per legislator per year.
