I remember back in the day hearing more about Sterling Sharpe than Shannon Sharpe.

Shannon is obnoxious and demonstrative, which is good for TV

Gamecock WRs are an astonishing amount of Favre's career production :

Sterling Sharpe

Robert Brooks (he didn't invent, but did popularize the Lambeau Leap)

And even Sidney Rice for the one year in Minnesota when the two made a stellar pair

Sterling Sharpe retiring after a 18 TD season may have something to do with it he retired right before the Packers got to the top.

edit: which was due to a neck injury. I'm sure him and Favre would have terrorized the league for a few more years if not for it. also the 18 receiving TDs in a season is 3rd all time. sucks he had to hang it up

Sterling is a much better color analyst.
Shannon is much better at drinking henny and smoking black & milds.

I think Shannon stated in a HOF speech that he isn’t even the best player in his own family.

Sterling was a better player. No doubt about it.

Shannon was just the brother of Sterling back before Sterling's injury.

Shannon Sharpe: Chad, you only had 67 touchdowns.

Shannon: How many years did you play?
Chad: 10.
Shannon: My brother played seven. He got 65.
Chad: Who's your brother?

I got one of those “Would you Rather?” road trip books a while back. One of them was would rather _________ or play 20 questions with Shannon Sharpe.

But it's not like he was nothing. Shannon had just made his 3rd straight probowl in what ended up being Sterling's last season. Shannon was always more loquacious so it makes sense that he's bigger on TV. I stay away from the crap with Bayless but really like the NFL Prime show he does with Deion and Tomlinson on Sunday.

Sterling Sharpe was a DOMINATING player at wideout so strong and fast, could outmuscle opponents for the ball and was so prolific with 2 QBs. He's basically the reason Favre gained any positive recognition as a starting QB in the NFL with that combo and him catching like 100 passes in consecutive seasons and such. PLUS he almost NEVER dropped a pass, dude was unreal and on the same level as Jerry Rice in my book.

Shannon is way better at talking shite. Got a rival so rustled the night before a super bowl...
