Why are people making such a big deal out of this kid not having any scholarship offers? He's not a 2019 recruit. He's got another whole spring, summer, and fall to get in front of recruiters.

Not big enough to play fullback, not fast enough to play running back.

Did not read the article but I’m just going to go out on a limb and say he is a white runningback.

Figured that. Don’t get me wrong I am a huge fan of Jacob Hester and what he did for LSU was fantastic but if Jeremy Hill/Leonard Fournette/Darius Guice are on that 07 team do we ever know Jacob Hester as anything more than a fullback/special teams guy?

D1 rarely looks at anyone under six foot in height.

That's not really accurate.

Looks more like 'Touchdown' Tommy Banks, than Hester.

Frankly, Chuck Scott should have gotten more carries that year as is. Particularly in that UK game.

"You can unearth endless examples of how college football recruiting is more art than science.
There is the celebrated case of Chris Pettaway, a highly recruited offensive tackle from Miami who signed with LSU in 1985, the midst of the Tigers’ heyday under Bill Arnsparger. Pettaway never started for LSU and became a poster child for recruiting busts.
For every Pettaway there is a Jacob Hester, the good-natured former Tigers running back who is LSU’s answer to Bob Uecker. He has often joked that when LSU signed his, ahem, talents in 2004, the Tigers’ recruiting ranking took a tumble. Of course, Hester turned out to be a 1,000-yard rusher and an NFL player whom you would have handed the ball to on fourth-and-1 if your proverbial life was on the line.

These two tales of national signing days past bring us to Wednesday’s second annual start of college football’s new early signing period." (The Advocate, 12/18/2018)

So I guess Hester was a hotshot when he came out of HS...you never know how a kid will develop in college....so no one is insulting Hester!

Richard Murphy, Charles scott, and keiland Williams were on that team. He earned the spot because of hard running and ball security.

They still should have eased off on giving him the ball against Kentucky that year. He was hurt and Scott was feasting in the first half.

None of those guys were on Hill/Fournette/ Guice level

Hester was solid and tough and he’s an LSU folk legend. But is he a top 10 RB at LSU eeeeeeeh
