Cypress tree hit with beetles

I have a group of four cypress trees in my front yard. The bases are about two feet in diameter. They all look healthy.
Last winter or early spring, I lost two limbs from the upper portion. The limbs being about 3 inches in diameter. I thought it was a wind storm that broke them.
But, I have lost about another four over the last six months. I was checking them out this afternoon and discovered some borers. I suspect they are weakening the wood and causing them to snap off. The bugs are very small and black.
Cypresses are typically pretty disease and pest free. So this is surprising.
Have any of you had this problem?
