Ironically dive bars end up turning into extremely clickish and incestuous places with all the regulars fighting and frickin and getting butthurt about high school level drama

I used to bartend at one and you would’ve thought it was a soap opera how much drama was always going on.

Very true.

I like dive bars, but they kinda remind me of soul food joints in the sense that a lot of people talk about how much they love them because they think it’s cool to be in the know about something less known.. even if the place actually sucks. A good dive bar is awesome, but being a dumpy small bar doesn’t automatically make a place a good dive bar IMO. Just like a good soul food restaurant is great, but some shithole melting kraft singles on spaghetti and dumping cans of veggies into a pot doesn’t deserve praise just because you feel cool for going somewhere most don’t know about.
