If by 'smart' you mean lazy, greedy, self-absorbed, and incompetent, but self-congratulatory over their artificially constructed vision of utopia where only they know the 'secret handshake' and definer of all the 'dog whistles' that are used to engender hatred toward their bettors.

Their 'smartness' only works inside their bubble. Let them step into the real world and they are instantly revealed as the dumbest goose in the flock.
