Here's my defense of Tomlin.

The D had major holes that the front office hasn't addressed. The secondary has been a dumpster fire for years. Shazier masked a lot of that, but he almost got paralyzed in a freak accident.

None of that is on Tomlin, IMO.

Ben has regressed big time. He has had at least one very inexplicable INT per game in this slide.

Bell's holdout was a huge distraction. Those offensive issues aren't really something in Tomlin's control, either.

Tomlin isn't perfect, but he delivers a lot of consistent W's. A lot of the issues with the Steelers are beyond his control. People get sucked in by the skill position talent and lose sight of that.

Most pertinently, who's out there who is an upgrade? People talk like McCarthy is a commodity, and that should say a lot. Tomlin has produced much more consistent results than McCarthy.

I agree with your analysis. I just don't know whether Art II will.
