WG's decision plainly says that he puts NFL preparation above college exhibition.
so why would an NFL team hold that against him?

People who defend this crap don't seem to realize it will spread.
You're going to have guys quitting 2-3 games into the season after their team drops a game or two.
Is it their right to do that? Sure. Is it a selfish, POS move that totally goes against the idea of teamwork and commitment to team goals? Absolutely.
It probably won't stop an NFL team from drafting them, but it tell you something about their character.

Bowl games aren't an exhibition any more than the very large majority of regular season games.

They'll do the same on a losing team in the NFL
