Funny how he took Sandersons writing course I think. I remember Sanderson talking about him when I listened to the ones they put up on youtube from like 2016.

You can kinda see it in the attention to detail with his magic system (not on the same level as Sanderson of course, but nobody is really). McClellan's writing/characters are more on the level of wax and Wayne Sanderson rather than early Sanderson.
Sounds like you have a good batch of books coming to tide you over. I should read moon is a harsh mistress at some point, only Heinlein I've read is starship troopers a long time ago.
