The direction of the trade deficit is not surprising
many on this board would disagree, and many also disagree with stating that it's not a bad thing

You do realize that is the month most Christmas goods come to shore right? Do you also realize the the US does Christmas like no other country when it comes to the commercial side of it?

The fact that you and 90proof claim superior intellectual understanding on all things trade yet continue to hammer "trade, tariffs, Trump" as the talking point driving the trade deficit is the definition of intellectual ignorance.
I understand what intellectual honesty is though, which apparently you don't. Intellectual honesty is not being smart, instead its not denying the facts presented to you.
I do agree, the trade deficit is a complicated beast. Maybe trump shouldn't have promised to fix the trade deficit if he can't actually do it?

That’s it, I’m done with Trump. I’m now a Hillary supporter. You happy now?

For the first year in 10 years, americans are buying cheap plastic shite from china! You nailed it right there buddy.

Nope. One month a trend does not make and the Christmas push is likely an aberration. But keep cheering against the US.

Fair enough 90proof, just to clarify, all you're claiming to do is present trade data? Completely devoid of any political undertones or in-depth analysis to what's driving it?

You're my favorite poster for all the wrong reasons.

The OP isn’t even complaining. You’re the one being a bitch. Trade deficits aren’t even a bad thing. And tariffs aren’t a good solution anyway.
Trump is basically Bernie Sanders on trade

You didn't read the article, did you? The trend is bad on exports and imports.
now, I am surprised that someone hasn't said - this is businesses filling their inventory before the next round of tariffs hit. This is at least partially what is going on.

seasonality is easily captured when comparing to the same month a year ago, and year to date compared to a year ago. both of which i did

No way. Businesses love uncertainty and not being able to plan for the future.

bruh you said i had continually "hammered" the talking point of a certain "driver" that i haven't asserted a single time

Most Chinese suppliers were giving guarantees to customers that if you placed orders by a certain deadline in Oct that you would not be subject to the new tariffs on Jan 1 and they would eat them if you products hadn't cleared customs by Jan 1.
It sucks that we missed our deadline and have a 20k line item on our latest order.

My post completely obliterates any position you've taken and clearly outlines why the trade deficit is moving in the direction it is...
You fail to address any of it because it completely defeats the narrative you are insinuating and is beyond your 30 seconds of armchair google economics understanding.
All you do is address individuals who have as little understanding as you do.
Grats on the great troll job though...#exposed

Trade deficits don't matter. The end.
