Saints have to win out and go 14-2 because even if the Rams are 14-1 going into week 17 there's a chance in the late afternoon game that the Rams could lose to the worst team in the league in the 49ers and we'd clinch the #1 seed in a 14-2 H2H tiebreaker over the Rams.

Hosting throughout the playoffs is the only way we can recreate the 2009 Super Bowl magic and repeat. See 2011 postseason for proof when Saints had their best team ever.

Hopefully the Rams will lose to the Bears and then drop one to the Eagles. Most of their wins this year have been within one score so it is definitely possible. If they did then we could rest in week 17 because we would have the #1 seed wrapped up. (the rams would likely rest their guys too in wk17 too)

Just a heads up, by rule if games have playoff implications and directly affect teams, those games are supposed to be played in the same time frame.

So if the race for the one seed is still on, our game would likely be flexed to the 3:00 hour (I highly doubt they want to start a west coast game at 10:00 am Pacific).

So if we still have a shot, we'd play our starters.
