Knowing that not all wins and losses are the same, no they would not have played in a current NY6 bowl game.
More opinions.

finished 6th in the SEC
Making shite up again? There were 3 teams at 7-1 and 2 teams at 5-3. That puts them 5th, assuming you're using the head to head to put UGA ahead of them.
Now, let's do 2018:
Alabama
Georgia
Florida (Head to head, remember?)
Texas A&M (Head to head, remember?)
LSU
Looks like both finished 5th to me.

only beat 3 bowl teams (similar to last year)
Oh look, an actual fact. I am truly proud of you.

ranking at 14 reflects the weak season they had
9-3 with a win over SEC Champion Auburn is weak.
9-3 with a win over SEC Runner Up Georgia is an accomplishment.
Solid logic there Lester.

Auburn 7-1
Alabama 7-1
Missouri 7-1
South Carolina 6-2
UGA 5-3
LSU 5-3

10-2 with a win over SEC Champion Auburn is weak.
except they were 9-3 going into the bowl game, just like this year.
And they only beat 3 bowl teams
they were ranked 16th in the BCS bowl standings going into the bowl game
This team after looking at it is much more similar to the 2015 team than it is to the 2018 team.
