I’ve read Soldiers Blue & Grey at least 3 times. It’s a book full of historical anecdotes on various aspects of soldier life. It’s really really funny too. They talk about all the whore houses in Washington DC and all the funny names for them. Also kinda sad.

It’s probably not the best book though, so what do you have.

I'm not sure what Shelby Foote's is called but its pretty much the basis for the Ken Burns doc. God Dammit I wish Shelby Foote could read me a bedtime story before I go to sleep and I'm 24 years old . That is the voice of an angel right there.

Time Life's Civil War series is my favorite. I used to check these out from the library when I was a kid. I bet I read them 100 times.

Bruce Catton "The Civil War."

The LSU Press publishes some good Civil War books as well.

Looking at your recent thread history, it doesn’t seem like you have in the last month. Don’t have to be the worlds greatest detective to figure that one, brainiac.

I posted 1 month and one day ago. And I didn’t get much response at all when ever I had posted there. I figured a non-fiction discussion is perfectly fine here. I know there was a discussion a week ago over there on that topic. But I’d rather get more varied opinions. Condiment King

You ever stop and think that the lack of response was because people erroneously create book threads on the OT instead of the board specifically designed for that purpose, thus lowering the overall volume of the Book Board and creating the exact situation that you're trying to avoid, Mustard Man.
